The National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD) requires any securities professional associated with a member firm to be register with NASD. One of the steps in gaining registration is passing specific NASD administered examinations. Most NASD administered examinations require you to be sponsored by an NASD member firm, a self-regulatory organization, a state regulator or an exchange.
