Montana State Requirements

Montana Insurance Pre-Licensing Exam Preparation

The 30-hour, self-paced online courses feature interactive learning aids that enhance user understanding of key concepts and improve knowledge retention. A comprehensive exam prep and simulation containing hundreds of questions with remediation and feedback are also included in all courses.

The Life and Health insurance pre-licensing course surveys life, accident and health insurance principles and concepts common to all state producer licensing exams, giving students relevant information about health, accident and disability insurance, contract law, health insurance providers, health insurance policies, government programs, private insurance plans for seniors, underwriting and premiums, group health insurance and the uses of health insurance.

The Property and Casualty course surveys property and casualty insurance principles and concepts common to all state producer licensing exams, giving students relevant information about industry regulation, underwriting, property insurance, personal lines, commercial lines, inland marine, commercial floaters and federal programs, crime insurance and bonds, and workers' compensation.

Insurance Pre-licensing courses are intended for licensing examination preparation only. No pre-licensing course credit will be granted for completion.

Montana State Requirements

Continuing Education Hours
24 hrs required biennially

Continuing Education Compliance Date

Biennially based on renewal date.

License Renewal Date

Based on the producer licensure date.

Type of courses accepted for CE Credit

Independent self study courses or classroom

Course Subject Requirements

• Resident and non residents must complete 1 credit hour of Montana law, biennially.
• Producers licensed for credit life/disability only must complete the 5 hour requirement in courses approved in their line only.

Carryover Requirements

No carryover allowed.

Course Repetition

Credit will not be give for a course that is repeated within a 2 year period.

Final Exam

Final exam must be monitored.

Exemptions

• Individuals with a temporary license
• Newly licensed individuals are exempt for the calendar year that their license is issued.
• Individuals with a limited line license that an exam is not required.
• Individuals licensed only for surety insurance who sell bail bonds.
• Non resident agents if their home state requires CE and has a reciprocal agreement with Montana.

STUDENT EXPERIENCE:

1. Student will pay and enroll in the course.

2. Student will answer security and validation questions throughout the course validating the identity of the student.

3. Student will pass each lesson quiz before proceeding to the next lesson ensuring the mastery of the lesson.

4. If the student fails the end of lesson quiz, the student will be forced to repeat the lesson till he/she passes the quiz.

5. Upon the successful completion of the course, the student will be locked out of the final exam unless the student gets in touch with the proctor.

6. The proctor will type in an encrypted code to unlock the final exam.
At that point student will be able to take a CLOSED BOOK final exam to ensure that the student does not cheat.

7. Student will be allowed to take the final no more than 3 times.
