Michigan State Requirements
Michigan Insurance Continuing Education is brought to you by
American Education Systems, Michigan Provider Number 0173.
We offer the following certified Michigan Insurance CE (continuing
education) classes:
Michigan State Requirements
Continuing Education Hours
30 hours biennially. At least 15 hours must cover each specific line of insurance for which the agent is licensed.
Continuing Education Compliance Date
Biennial compliance date is determined by the last digit of the license number (Social Security Number) and the first letter of agent's last name. Compliance date does not change with name change. Agents whose last names begin with A-L renew in odd-numbered years. Agents whose last names begin with M-Z renew in even-numbered years.

License Renewal Date

Types of courses accepted for CE Credit
• Independent self-study courses.
• Classroom study.
Final Exam
Self-study final exams are not required to be monitored.
Course Subject Requirements
• At least 15 of the CE hours must cover each specific line of insurance for which the agent is licensed.
• LH/PC combined licensees must complete 15 hours in LH courses and 15 hours in PC courses.
Carryover Requirements
Excess CE credit hours my not be carried over to the next reporting period.
Course Repetition
Courses may not be taken for credit more than once in each reporting period.
Exemptions
• Individuals licensed 23 months or less at the time of the first CE compliance date are exempt for that first reporting period.
• Individuals licensed only for one or more of the following lines: Limited Life, Turkey, Crop & Hail, Travel, Accident and/or Baggage, Surety and/or Title.
• Individuals who apply for and receive a hardship waiver for terminal illness of self or of immediate family member who requires an ordinate amount of care by licensee or military duty.
