Delaware State Requirements

Delaware Insurance Pre-Licensing Exam Preparation

The 30-hour, self-paced online courses feature interactive learning aids that enhance user understanding of key concepts and improve knowledge retention. A comprehensive exam prep and simulation containing hundreds of questions with remediation and feedback are also included in all courses.

The Life and Health insurance pre-licensing course surveys life, accident and health insurance principles and concepts common to all state producer licensing exams, giving students relevant information about health, accident and disability insurance, contract law, health insurance providers, health insurance policies, government programs, private insurance plans for seniors, underwriting and premiums, group health insurance and the uses of health insurance.

The Property and Casualty course surveys property and casualty insurance principles and concepts common to all state producer licensing exams, giving students relevant information about industry regulation, underwriting, property insurance, personal lines, commercial lines, inland marine, commercial floaters and federal programs, crime insurance and bonds, and workers' compensation.

Insurance Pre-licensing courses are intended for licensing examination preparation only. No pre-licensing course credit will be granted for completion.

Delaware State Requirements

Continuing Education Hours
• Twenty (20) CE credit hours are required biannually.
• Individuals continuously licensed for 25 years or more and/or who hold a CPU, CPCU or other professional designation with annual education requirements receive an automatic credit of 10 hours biannually.
• Ten (10) credit hours biannually for Individuals licensed to sell Credit Life/Health.
• Limited representatives, adjusters, and fraternal agents must complete 10 hours of CE biannually
All licensees must complete 4 hours in ethics as part of their regular CE requirement. Hours must be taken in lines for which license is held.

Continuing Education Compliance Date

February 28, biannually.

License Renewal Date

February 28, biannually.

Type of courses accepted for CE Credit

Independent self study courses or classroom

Course Subject Requirements

All licenses must complete 4 hours in ethics as part of their regular CE requirement.

Carryover Requirements

A maximum of 5 hours may be carried over to the next reporting period.

Course Repetition

Courses may not be taken for credit more than once in a 5 year period.

Final Exam

Final exam is not required to be monitored.

Exemptions

• Individuals licensed only for title or public carrier insurance
• Individuals licensed as an interim agent
• Newly licensed individuals are exempt for the biennium in which the license is issued

STUDENT EXPERIENCE:

1. Student will pay and enroll in the course.
2. No proctoring is currently required.
3. The Delaware DOI does not require the student to pass each lesson quiz before proceeding to the next lesson. How a Provider deems completion of a course is acceptable.
4. Delaware allows open book exams as long as that’s the way the course was submitted.
5. There is no requirement regarding how many times a student is allowed to take a final examination.
6. Once the student passes the examination, Providers shall maintain the records of each individual completing a course for 4 years from the date of completion and shall upon request of the Commissioner submit a course roster list of course attendees which includes all information available on Form CE-4.
